In todays video Ill talk about taxes on ETFs . If you do not use a German broker the tax calculation could be very complicated but if you use a German trading platform

They will calculate all the taxes for you and send the information to the Tax office automatically.

You pay taxes on the gains you get after selling your ETFs, and that tax is called Capital Gains tax (not the total gains tax as said in the video). The capital gains tax is approximately 25 percent in Germany.
