How to Work as a Doctor in Germany
If you completed your education and training as a doctor outside Germany, you will require an official licence (Approbation). This licence is needed in order to work in your profession in Germany. Without this licence, you may not be able to treat patients as an on-duty doctor in Germany.
The Approbation is an official licence to practise medicine with an unrestricted professional permit. To obtain this licence, your education and training must be recognised as an equivalent to the German education and training programme for doctors.
One of the biggest hurdles here is the German language requirements between B2 to C1 level. Getting to this level of competence would require at least 6 months of intense studying. I for example have a level between B1 and B2 level. It took me almost 7 years to get to this level as my Masters degree was in English. I never really put a lot of effort into it but I have seen people get to this level in 6 months.
